Ellie Jane

So Rudy has been brought out of the closet...guess it is time to bring Ellie Jane out too. Buggers has this adorable baby doll made by Goldberger. No one can remember where we got her (but I have found that you can buy her brand new on Ebay). Buggers became attached to Ellie Jane about a year ago. I remember I was thinking of baby names for no apparent reason and came up with Ellie Jane. I told Hubs about it and he said "Where are we from? Alabama?" Right then and there I knew I would never get to use it. Therefore I gave it to Buggers baby doll. Well never in a million years did I think it would stick?

Buggers takes Ellie Jane everywhere....swimming pool, school, church, store, outside for walks, to the park, EVERYWHERE!!! Her teachers know Ellie Jane's name even the kids in her class know the doll's name. She is such a sweet little momma to her. She talks to her, rocks her, and puts her down for a nap/bedtime. She usually sleeps with her tucked under her arm. I just love watching her with her baby. She is very protective of her...no one else can play with Ellie Jane. They can play with her other babies but not Ellie. Bubby is also sweet and joins in with Buggers pretend play. Anytime Ellie Jane is left laying around he picks her up and takes her to Buggers. He even makes sure that we have her with us before we leave the house. Such a good big brother!!!

I notice Ellie Jane is getting a bit worn. Her clothes get washed fairly often but they are starting to get holes. She is a bit dirty from all the places she goes. I try to baby wipe her to keep her clean. I plan on getting her a back up doll just in case anything every happens to Ellie Jane. (Hubs made fun of me because one time we misplaced Ellie Jane and he claims I was more upset about it than Buggers.)

I've got a new number

1.31.10 I'll complete 13.1 when I'm 30.0

I have been training for my biggest personal accomplishment (next to birthing two children) for the past few weeks. I'm training to run a half marathon on Jan 31st. Just 2 weeks prior I will have turned 30. I feel like this is the greatest present I can give myself. It is the Miracle Match Marathon which supports those who are seeking their "miracle match" which is run through Scott & White Marrow Donor Program. I think it is a wondeful cause to run for.

I had a great start to my training. I was up to running for 30 minutes which was at or more than 2 miles. I even broke my mile time by 2.5 minutes. Then this stinkin' sinus infection got the best of me. I have taken a week off trying to get over it. I'm not quite over it but I've got to get back to training. I officially start on my 26 week training program which will take me all the way to race day. I have a week buffer in there just in cause something happens and I can't train one week.

I have been very fortunate to have a supportive hubby who entertains the kids while I go run. At the beginning my runs are just 30 minutes but as the training increases so will be my times out. He has been great so far. He even rode his bike while I ran cheering me on. I would love for him to run the half with me but we would have to get pretty creative on training. Mainly because I would want to train together if we race together.

I can't wait to cross that finish line and celebrate with my family on this huge accomplishment. It is going to take alot of dedication on my part as well as my family.

Life is short...so get out there and make something happen!!!

Livin' on a Funny Farm

Sometimes you just gotta let loose and have a little fun. I think we just like making funny faces. Hubs always tells me that I'm funny....funny looking. My reply...You're funny too....funny smelling! Too bad we don't get paid for our comedy or we would be living in a cardboard box.

This is my favorite. The picture captured the moments before Bubby faceplants on the floor. He pops right up laughing his head off saying "See that!!!!"

Smilebox

I love Hallmark's Smilebox. I hope hubby opens this in his email before looking at my blog. It is a great free site much better than 123greetings or bluemountain. You can even send scrapbooks with tons of pics. If you haven't tried it, try it!!!! Make someone's day with a little e-love.

Kids say the Dardnest things!!

Bubby: I want a big hot girl, Momma! (in reference to our conversation regarding why mommy will pick out his girls)

Bubby: Hey Mommy, he has hair on his boobies.(after seeing a friend without his shirt on as we get ready to go swimming.)

Buggers: Daddy, is it hot in here, or just you? (I have to admit I did help her out on this one but the way she said it was all on her own. She even did a little head tilt)

Bubby: I hate this world. (This was said after he did not get his way. I'm seriously curious what can he hate in his little 4 year old world. But he said it with such passion and was so convincing that I couldn't help but laugh.)

There are so many little comments they make that keep us cracking up and keep us in stitches. I love that my children can bring so much laughter to our lives.

Wacky Ole' Time

We headed to Waco this past weekend for a wacky good time with my parents and sister. We drove down on Friday after I got out of school. Dad's company had an event at the Waco Zoo which included admission and lunch. Man, was is a scorcher that day!!! Thanks goodness that most of the zoo is shaded and there is a fraction of the humidity unlike Houston. After we got back from the zoo, most every one was zapped and laid down to recoup from the heat. Hubs and I took some time to hit my favorite antique shop in town and then stopped at a garage sale. Then me and the kids went swimming in the kiddie pool. What a sight!!! We got Papa pretty wet and I even attempted to toss Nana in too until she pulled the ole' "my knee my knee". Later hubs surprised me with several wild sunflowers that he cut from the lot next door. Soooo sweet. Dad tried to one up him and got a 5 gallon bucket and shovel and told Mom he would get her the whole plant...funny!!!

Soooo Bright!!!

That picture is next to "adorable" in the dictionary

Definitely a keeper!!!

I think the heat was making us crazy!!!!

She sure is "Purdy"

Last Sunday we got all fancied up for church. We were about to head out the door when Mt. Bubby erupted. He has such a sensitive stomach that it can act up in the most inopportune times. Anyway we were all dressed up so I thought I would capture Buggers in her pretty dress. She is such a sport. What is funny is she is hiding a container of goldfish in every picture. You wouldn't know it unless I told you. She was very clever at hiding it. :)

"That's enough pictures Mom!!!"

"I told you I was done"

With all that prettiness...comes the sassiness to match.

Some of my personal favorites...

Buggers and Her Rudy

Well I guess it is time to bring "Rudy" out of the closet. Those of you who know my Buggers well knows that her best bud is "Rudy". Rudy is a sweet, sometimes bad, little (as in size) boy that is always with her. They became friends some time ago. My earliest recollection of "Rudy" coming around was this past fall. "Rudy" is Buggers' imaginary friend. He lives with us, rides in the car, goes to school, gets put in timeout when he is bad, tickles her, plays with her, and even pushes on her stomach to make her throw up. "Rudy" is as real to her as a real person. I am amazed at her imgination and the things she conjures up for "Rudy" to do. My favorite is when "Rudy" tickles her. She just giggles and says "Rudy's tickling me." She is like a little momma to "Rudy". She carries him, takes care of him when he gets hurt, and even puts him in timeout when he gets in trouble. She holds him in the palm of her hand and even walks around like she is holding his hand, hunched over with hand stretched down and all.

I asked her teacher at school if she ever talks about him. And with a big grin she said "OH YEAH!" She said in fact Buggers told her that day that "Rudy" ate her brownies. She said it is hilarious to hear the stories about "Rudy". My reply is always "that my crazy girl."

I mean how many little kids have imaginary friends that are so real. It reminds me of that movie from the early 90s, Drop Dead Fred. (Movie Summary---A young woman finds her already unstable life rocked by the presence of a rambunctious imaginary friend from childhood.) I'm sure she will outgrow it. But in the mean time I will just feed her creativity and accept "Rudy" as our 3rd child. Good thing is that he won't eat much :)

Momma called the doctor

Well we have been in the land of the sick the past week and half. Bubby and Buggers have had ear infections, sinus, and enterovirus. Bubby was the sickest and finally started feeling better on Sunday. So really not much to report unless you want an account of sleepless nights, snotty noses, and projectile vomit in the middle of the night. But I'm sure you will all pass. So I will leave you with our little ones all dressed up...

Everyone needs a good recipe

Great Recipe for a peace-filled life..
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk (run) every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today. I am thankful for______________!

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a KING, lunch like a PRINCE and dinner like a COLLEGE KID with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16.. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements:I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings.

You'll be smiling before you know it.

For Sale

Well tomorrow we officially list our house on the MLS. No turning back now. We tried it a week on our own which was a very valiant effort resulting in 2 showings, 1 email, and no phone calls. I came to the conclusion that FSBOs are going with of the rest of the dying breeds. So pray to the real estate god that our house sells quickly and we get close to asking price.

Viva las Waco!!

PreK paying off

Bubby: "Ahhh Lillie look what you made." as he looks at her schoolwork for the day.
"There's your name Lillie. L-I-eleven-I-E."

You can't make that stuff up. That's my boy thinking out of the box!!!
