Springing into our Break

Hubs and I both have Spring Break this week. We started out the break by heading over to Nederland for a few days. We took the kids to the Heritage Festival which is the home town carnival that happens every Spring Break. We saw alot of people we know. Even saw someone that I haven't seen in more than 8 years. Sad to say I couldn't not remember her name or place where I knew her and her husband until we got to talking. We always have a good time seeing people and how much our little town has changed or maybe it hasn't changed and we have. I know after spending a few days there we are so spoiled where we live. God bless Homeowner's associations and fees. I will never curse you again. However it is neat to see all the same ole people who have been around for ages and the community comradre. The hometown spirit hasn't died in that town. And neither has midrifts. I felt like I was surfing "The Shape of a Mother" website while walking around. These women wear their bellies loud and proud on the outside.

After we delighted ourselves on carnival rides and fried oreos, we headed out with the crew to BW3's and then downtown. We had a blast. I don't think I have danced that much since college. My main dance partner was my BIL, Kodean. He was a good sport hanging with his mommyfied SIL. We always have such a good time with the Hooders. And this time Mollster graced us with her presence. She is a hoot even though she drank water like a fish...literally.

After rolling in at a mere 4 am we rose and didn't much shine to get ready to head to Sugartown LA. Hubs' Nuna lives over there and we haven't seen her in over a year. It is always great to see her and especially see her looking so good. The kids loved roaming all over her house mostly looking and terrorizing her cat. Who might I add wasn't opposed to the kids at all. I think it is so neat to look at Hub's grandma and see so much of my mother in law. My MIL has been married for 35 years and not lived in her mother's house for that long and it is amazing how many similarities you see. Even their "grandmothering" tendencies are the same. It is really neat to observe how they both interact with our kids. I wonder if I am the same way with my mother. Anyway we headed back to Nederland for a much needed rest. We all camped out on the couches and watched a movie.

The next day, Monday, Hubs and I headed to our favorite salad and pizza joint. Then headed over to the mall or if that is what you call it. Since the storm things aren't quite the same. After browsing around for a while, we headed for home sweet home.

Spring Break Part 2 to come.
